Our Singapore Conversation, an initiative helmed by Education Minister Heng Swee Keat finally announced its committee members yesterday and proceeds to do what it intents to do: engage Singaporeans on what they want for Singapore via a slew of platforms like a website, Facebook Page and more.
On a personal thought, I am not sure what this conversation will achieve eventually as all the online and coffeeshop chatter Singaporeans have is really what matters to Singapore.
Formalizing all these informal but genuine sharing in these chatter as a National Conversation may really backfire as a formal structure may result in no one wanting to say what he or she truly wants to say, especially if their opinions can be traced.
