Singapore Chinese New Year

Every year, in line with Chinese New Year, Singapore will organize similarly themed events during the festive period.
For this year, be sure to catch the following events:
1) Chinese New Year Chinatown Lightup (already covered in my blog)
2) Chinese New Year Countdown @ Chinatown
3) River Hong Bao @ Marina Bay
4) Chingay
5) City Alive!
6) Yuan Xiao Jie festival
I am targeting to visit all of the above events and will bring updates to this blog! so watch out for them here in this blog!
Chinatown is brimming with people these days, as many Singaporeans are busy clearing their old stuff residing in their home, sprucing up their homes and buying Chinese New Year goodies.
One question, are more shoppers in Chinatown buying or are merely just 'window shopping'?

Do u find the price of a can of abalone excessive ? There r families who lived on S$ 50,00 a week !

My fave is bah kwa for CNY. I always hoard 2kg all for myself. My hubby is also a big fan. We always patronise China town to hv our fill no matter the season - hehe. What r they charging for a kilo now ?

Hi Dutchie,

Just an update on prices of Ba Kwa here in Singapore.

The nearer to Chinese New Year, the steeper the prices of Ba Kwa.

The most famous Ba Kwa is still Lim Chee Guan, now $46 per kg.

Bee Cheng Hiang still around $38 per kg I think, though it will increase soon as CNY nears.
