That is Life!

Image
This scene was taken at Suntec City last Saturday. It brought fond memories of my some of my childhood days. When one is a child, the days seem to pass slowly and many of the times, life can seem so enjoyable. But entering adulthood, we see the need to earn a living, entering the common rat race, be embroiled in office politics, seeing the less fairer nature of man and experience aging, some pain here and there. That is Life!

This ERP (Electronic Road Pricing) gantry next to Fu Lu Shou Shopping Complex was one of the many put up in the most recent installation of such gantries across the island.

Aesthetics lies in the beholder

Blue Pyramid (from rooftop of a building) Flying Saucer (Changi Airport Terminal 3) As the two above pictures have exemplified, looking things from different angles in life, one can see different meanings and beauty inherent even in a most ordinary thing.

Misleading Traffic Lights

Image
The location of the two traffic lights at this traffic crossing in front of Blk 11, Jalan Eunos, makes crossing by pedestrians dangerous. Shown in the picture are the 'red mans' of the two traffic lights. The 'red man' and 'green man' of these two traffic lights are not synchronised. The dangerous situation is when the 'green man' of the traffic light behind lights up while the traffic light in front still indicates 'red man', because at the orientation of the traffic light can easily mislead pedestrian that this 'green man' is indicated on the first traffic light when it is not; accidents might then result.

The 8th Wonder of the World in Singapore

Image
The world has 7 ‘wonders of the world’; many Singaporeans have been thinking whether Singapore can have a possible candidate for the 8th wonder of the world? A slew of suggestions have been thrown up in the previous years, these ranged from the iconic landmarks of Singapore: the Changi Airport, the Zoo, the Botanic Gardens to the newly built key architectural beauties like the Esplanade, the Singapore Flyer and the soon-to-be-built structure of the IRs (Integrated Resorts). I would like to propose a 8th wonder of the World for Singapore. This 8th wonder has not been deliberately built; it is formed naturally by Singaporeans for Singaporeans. And this 8th wonder of the world as proposed by me is nonetheless found underground, in the exit linking City Hall MRT Station to Connaught Drive! People who pass by this underground at any time of the day, be it weekdays, weekends, in the night or day would be amazed at this naturally-formed 8th wonder of the world in Singapore. There, right in th...

Train Disruption

Image
Mayhem today which turns out to be a Monday. A service vehicle broke down around 545 am today between Tampines and Simei MRT Station and as a result the railway transport was disrupted from Pasir Ris MRT Station to Tanah Merah MRT Station for more than 7 hours! The many shuttle buses provided for the passengers caught unprepared for the breakdown did not do much to pacify them. Ironically, today's breakdown occured just days after Transport Minister Raymond Lim presented the land transport revamp plan in Parliament.

Urban Legend 2

What are noticeboards for? For this one, it serves as a rubbish bin! But I find it disbelieving that this notice board is used as a rubbish bin for it is extremely difficult to slot these papers in. Or rather, how does one put all these refuse in? for this noticeboard looks locked.

DHL Balloon

Image
This DHL Balloon has now become a common sight for Singaporeans. Sited in Bugis, it plays host to Singaporeans and tourists who take its flight up 150 m into the air and enjoy the breathtaking view. The whole journey takes 10 min up, down and stationary. And no, the balloon will not fly away as Singapore is so small, one blow and it will fly to Malaysia or Indonesia. The price of the balloon journey is $23 per adult, and $13 for children. The DHL balloon will have to move in December 2007 when its lease is up. The balloon may have to shift to a new location then or be deflated.........and like the Crazy Horse Show, kiss Singapore goodbye.

Merlion performing a David Copperfield Stunt

Image
Singaporeans see the Merlion many times that it is taken for granted. How about not seeing the Merlion as it gets wrapped up for a bath?
