Ever wonder what Singapore looked like in the past? Now you can catch a glimpse of the landscape of Singapore in The Image of our landscape exhibition at the National Musuem.

The exhibition takes visitors through a walk in Singapore history through the many posters, drawings and photos of early Singapore.

I visited the exhibition at the Museum last Friday and learnt some worthwhile lessons about early Singapore.

In the past, tigers roamed freely in Singapore. I am glad these days we see only cats on our streets.

Life at that time, for many Singaporeans was not as comfortable as now, but these days, I find it increasingly stressed living in Singapore due to the hectic pace of work here as well as the rising cost of living in Singapore: things are getting more and more expensive and somehow Singaporeans I find are getting more and more stressed.

Performance Bonus

It is the time of the year civil servants receive their performance bonuses (PBs). In the coming two weeks, civil servants will not only receive their performance bonuses, special ‘growth bonuses’, would also await them for the very first time. These PBs and growth bonuses are only applicable to performers, defined as officers with assessed performance gradings above the ‘D’ grade. Typically, civil servants receive their performance bonuses in March, a 0.5 month of bonus in July and a 13th month plus AVC in December. Are all the bonuses good? To be frank, the bonuses dished out in Civil Service are averages at best. With the various bonuses being given out in these months: July, December and March, a civil servant who would like to quit would most likely try to find a ‘suitable’ month to quit so as not to forfeit his bonuses. SINGAPORE HAZE IMPROVING?

The haze seems to take a turn for the better. At least from my windows at home, I can see the surroundings. But from the haze website, the PSI is still above 100 which is unhealthy. I long for a jog, I have not had one for few months. I was thinking of jogging some weeks ago, if not because of the haze. True, I could turn to the gyms but jogging on the treadmill is no fun, it cannot compares with running outdoors. I jogged only for a very few times on the threadmill before my arm will inadvertently swang and hit the "Stop" button on the threadmill and then my jogging routine will come to a stop before the intended duration of jog.
