My Dear and I joined thousands of couples and singles in renewing our vows and participated in the mass releasing of love balloons at “Real Love works” held by the Marriage Central at the Marina Barrage yesterday!
Personally, I believe Marina Barrage is a perfect romantic spot for the hosting of such a romantic event as the setting in Marina Barrage is simply breathtakingly romantic and scenic!
The Guest-of-Honour of the event was Dr. Vivian BalaKrishnan from the Ministry of Community, Youth and Sports (MCYS). He and his spouse joined the thousand of couples in renewing their vows.
There were fringe stalls selling popcorns, candy floss; caricature drawings and roses were sold at $5 per bouquet. Each couple is given a recycled bag containing a host of goodies, Love magazines, discount vouchers and mineral water.
My Dear and I, like other couples present at the venue enjoyed ourselves thoroughly at the Marina Barrage. Kudos to the organizer Ms Anita Fam and her team for coming out with such a Great Event to celebrate LOVE!
Love was literally really in the air as the thousands of balloons, ascended up the sky, each carrying a special love message handwritten by each half of the couple for the other!
Singapore Short Stories believes in the GREAT power of Love as I have personally experienced Great Love from my Dear! Love could really transform things in the world!

And I am not speaking about romantic love per se, Love can be in the form of parental love, Brotherly Love and Employer- Employee Love!
But don’t confuse love with philandering though!

I can appreciate the excitement of a mass event but I think that the concept is flawed in displaying it so publicably. Such an intimate moment in life should be treasured n witnessed by people who r significant in your lives.
On the other hand, some folks might benefit from the buzz, but at the end of the day, all the hard work to keep a relationship running smoothly is up to the individual n not the stimulant given at this event - right ?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Ya, events here may be getting more and more commercialized already...
