Koh Poh Koon: Pungggol By-election

Koh Poh Koon is PAP's candidate for Punggol by-election. Poh Koon is described as the "Son of Punggol". I read that Poh Koon has been an executive member of a Residents' Committee in Telok Blangah where he and his family lives since 2002.


I wonder why despite being described as a  person committed to the community, Poh Koon is only an executive member of a Residents' committee? Reports till today do not show that Poh Koon holds leadership positions in the grassroots like Chairman positions of Grassroots organizations. A Chairman should be able to contribute more towards shaping community affairs and helping the community.

Currrently the parliament has quite many PAP MPs with grassroots background and these MPs have held Chairman positions in Grassroots organizations before and have been conferred National Day Awards, e.g. Lim Wee Kiat, PBM; Ellen Lee, PBM; Lim Bow Chuan, PBM; Teo Ho Ping, Patrick Tay, BBM, etc.
