The Straits Times today carried a report which asked whether cyber vigil-a term describing the efforts of netizens in tracing the identity and particular of a person- in the news has become an online witch hunt with handphone numbers, residential address and other particulars of the person being targeted disseminated across the pages of the internet.
Online witch hunt seems to be reiging now in tandem with the high profile online scandal case which saw, to date, 48 men being charged. Photos of some of the men involved have been made available online.
