Korean Hostage Crisis

At this point in writing, the 23-member Korean delegation of Christian volunteers who had come to Korea to do missionary work and who were unluckily captured by the Taliban were said to be freed soon after negotiation talks proved successful. However one of these 23 members were freed dead, his body punctured with 10 over bullet shots.

Though it is not known at this point in writing what the negotiation terms agreed were, I believe it is in monetary terms. The terrorists are hungry for money to buy weapons and to fund future terrorist activities.

Performance Bonus

It is the time of the year civil servants receive their performance bonuses (PBs). In the coming two weeks, civil servants will not only receive their performance bonuses, special ‘growth bonuses’, would also await them for the very first time. These PBs and growth bonuses are only applicable to performers, defined as officers with assessed performance gradings above the ‘D’ grade. Typically, civil servants receive their performance bonuses in March, a 0.5 month of bonus in July and a 13th month plus AVC in December. Are all the bonuses good? To be frank, the bonuses dished out in Civil Service are averages at best. With the various bonuses being given out in these months: July, December and March, a civil servant who would like to quit would most likely try to find a ‘suitable’ month to quit so as not to forfeit his bonuses. SINGAPORE HAZE IMPROVING?

The haze seems to take a turn for the better. At least from my windows at home, I can see the surroundings. But from the haze website, the PSI is still above 100 which is unhealthy. I long for a jog, I have not had one for few months. I was thinking of jogging some weeks ago, if not because of the haze. True, I could turn to the gyms but jogging on the treadmill is no fun, it cannot compares with running outdoors. I jogged only for a very few times on the threadmill before my arm will inadvertently swang and hit the "Stop" button on the threadmill and then my jogging routine will come to a stop before the intended duration of jog.
